Who we are
Taranaki Websites is a web design and development business based in New Plymouth, Taranaki, New Zealand. We are responsible for the personal information described here. You can reach our privacy contact at hello@taranakiwebsites.com.
What we collect
We only collect what you choose to give us, and what is needed to run the site safely:
- Contact form: your name, email, business name, optional phone number, the package you are interested in and your message.
- Technical data: your IP address is used briefly, in memory, to limit repeated form submissions. It is not stored with your message. Our host keeps standard server logs for security.
- No tracking: this site sets no cookies and runs no advertising or tracking scripts.
Why we collect it
To reply to your enquiry, prepare a quote, and, if we work together, deliver and support your project. We will not use your details for marketing unless you ask us to, and we never sell or rent personal information.
Where it is stored
Messages are delivered to our own enquiry system and, if that is unavailable, by email through our email provider. Some of our service providers (website hosting and email delivery) store data on servers outside New Zealand, including in the United States. Under Information Privacy Principle 12 we only use providers that protect information in ways comparable to the Privacy Act.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not become projects are deleted within 24 months. Client records are kept for as long as needed for the project and for our legal and tax obligations (generally seven years for business records).
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it (Information Privacy Principles 6 and 7). Email hello@taranakiwebsites.com and we will respond within 20 working days. If you are not happy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
Security and breaches
The site is served over HTTPS with strict security headers, and access to enquiries is limited to the people who need it. If a privacy breach is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify you and the Privacy Commissioner as the Act requires.
